  • Those applying to be a NEW Member, will be contacted regarding their application. If there is an issue with the applicants submission or the applicant is denied, dues will be fully refunded.

PROFESSIONAL MEMBER REQUIREMENTS

  • REQUIREMENT 1. Must have one of the following.

    • NCIDQ Certified Designer

    • AIA Certification

  • REQUIREMENT 2. Must have one of the following.

    • Is a graduate of a 4 or 5 year Interior Design School/College AND had complete 2 years of diversified Interior Design experience with an established Interior Design Firm.

    • Has completed 3 years of education with a major in Interior Design in a recognized Interior Design school, OR 4 years college plus 3 years of full time diversified Interior Design experience with an established Interior Design firm.

    • Has completed 2 years of hourly equivalent of technical training in the field of Interior Design in a technical school AND 4 years’ experience in a recognized Interior Design firm.

    • Has combination of advanced education of Interior Design education and/or diversified Interior Design firm.

ADDITIONAL NOTES

  • Applicants must provide proof of qualifications prior to acceptance for professional membership, including passage of the NCIDQ or equivalent exam.

  • Application for Professional membership status must be accepted by the membership committee and the Board of Directors.

  • In the event the request for membership is denied, dues will be refunded in full to the member.

+ Allied Membership - $65

ALLIED MEMBER BENEFITS

ALLIED MEMBER REQUIREMENTS

  • Requirement 1.

    • Must be working towards the requirements of the Professional Member classification (education and NCIDQ certification.)

  • Requirement 2. Must have one of the following.

    • Completion of a minimum of two years' advanced education or Interior Design education in a design school or college with a major in Interior Design and are now engaged full-time in the profession of Interior Design.
    • A minimum of 6 years' full-time diversified Interior Design experience. Must provide evidence of a high degree of knowledge and professionalism.

ADDITIONAL NOTES

  • Any request by a member for a change from Allied status to Professional status must be accompanied by a letter showing certification by the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (from NCIDQ headquarters). Such a request may be made in June of each year and shall be accompanied by payment of the member’s dues at the Professional status rate. In the event the request for reclassification is denied, dues will be refunded in full to the member.

+ AFFILIATE MEMBERSHIP - $65

AFFILIATE MEMBER BENEFITS

AFFILIATE MEMBER REQUIREMENTS

  • Applicants for this category shall be persons actively engaged in industry related activities, such as Interior Design departments at any University or school of Interior Design. This category includes business owners and professional staff of Interior Design firms, Architects, and those in the art profession.

ADDITIONAL NOTES

  • In the event the request for membership is denied, dues will be refunded in full to the member.

+ INDUSTRY MEMBERSHIP - $150

INDUSTRY MEMBER BENEFITS

1- May be nominated to all IDI Board of Director positions.

2- May request a copy of the Membership Directory at any time.

3- May request a member specific event be added to the IDI Calendar, with a graphic/logo on that date.

4- Access to the password protected Job Listing portal. Members may view and request a posting for the community.

5- On a Preferred Vendor List for the Industry Member's specialty. This benefit comes into play when either a member is looking for a resource or an outside individual contacts IDI via our website asking for a referral.

6- Industry Members may use the designation Industry Member IDI on a second line of business cards or advertising.

7- Industry Members will be given early access to SPARK Trade Show booth sale, at a discounted rate.

INDUSTRY MEMBER REQUIREMENTS

  • Applicants for this category shall be persons actively engaged in industry related business, such as allied trades, allied organizations and manufacturers' representatives.

ADDITIONAL NOTES

  • A company may have two (2) representatives on one membership.

  • Platinum sponsors shall receive complimentary Industry Membership(s) for the upcoming year, post sponsorship, as outlined in the Sponsorship Levels section of the website.

+ STUDENT MEMBERSHIP - FREE

STUDENT MEMBER BENEFITS

1- Access to the password protected Job Listing portal. Members may view and request a posting for the community.

2- Available to apply for the Student Member Endowment. Funds from this endowment shall go towards the student's educational expenses.

STUDENT MEMBER REQUIREMENTS

  • Any student who is actively enrolled in an Interior Design education program in a design school or college.

ADDITIONAL NOTES

  • Students are encouraged to attend meetings and be actively involved in special projects, competitions, and programs.

  • Students are accepted as Allied Members of IDI upon graduation from their school. Students must re-file an application for change in status. Dues must be paid at the time of filing.

+ HONORARY MEMBERSHIP - FREE

HONORARY MEMBER REQUIREMENTS

  • Each school of Interior Design is entitled to one Honorary IDI membership for an instructor in its department of Interior Design.
 
 
 

APPLICATION FOR MEMBERSHIP 

A membership applications may be obtained through the payment portal. Only completed applications will be accepted for review. Training/education received through any form of correspondence course, will not be considered in determining the applicant’s qualifications. After Membership Committee approval, the application, including dues, is to be sent to the Board for final approval. Any person of good character and integrity who agrees to abide by the Bylaws and Code of Ethics in Interior Designers of Idaho and who qualifies for one of the above described categories may be elected to membership in the organization.
